[ARCHIVED] Students receive and email immediately for a delayed announcement

I set up an announcement that I will be absent from class and delayed the posting until the day that I would be absent, however my students received an email about the announcement right after I set it up. They then thought I was going to be absent that day which caused mass confusion. Did I do something wrong or are delayed announcements essentially useless if they will receive an email with the announcement right away anyway?
