Hello,

At a faculty meeting today we were discussing the use of analytics to monitor student activity and then using it to contact students to help them improve their understanding and engagement.

A question came up about how to inform students that the instructor will be using analytics to monitor student activity? We think it might improve engagement as well as to be transparent.

Does anyone have a sample statement for the syllabus to convey their use of Canvas Analytics to monitor students?

I would say something to the effect of, "Per University Policy, certain account information will be recorded and monitored to improve user experience and course quality." If you present it in a sensible way I don't think anyone would bat an eyelash.
