Currently, my Teachers are unable to edit Course Name and Course Code in the Course Details Settings page. I would like to grant them this ability but am unable to find that setting in the Course Roles Permissions settings page. How can I grant my Teacher roles permissions to edit Course Name and Course Code? Including a screenshot to show the fields I'd like them to be able to edit.
These fields are managed by the account setting called Don't let teachers rename their courses. See How do I set details for an account? - Canvas Community
Hope that helps!
Erin
@erinhmcmillan Thank you for taking the time to respond to this. Super helpful in understanding that there is a setting at the account level.
As it turns out, the need to apply this setting exists at a subaccount level. Do you (or anyone following this thread) happen to know if this setting can be applied at a subaccount level?
Thanks again for responding.
Logan
I believe you can. See this guide.
Hi, @lmurray2
The Permissions PDFs in Resource Documents - Canvas Community include a list of what permissions are not included in sub-accounts; otherwise you should be able to add any permission to any user role.
Erin
Thanks. Looking at the Account and Sub-Account Role Comparison doc, states that only root account admins can manage the "Don't let teachers rename their courses" setting. This seems to be a very straightforward limitation - is there a known workaround for this?
