Hi again, @ST2010 ...
1. I'm wondering are there any tutorials in a pdf format which explains step by step with definition. For example, I'm having a hard time understanding what Commons is. I'm well familiar with Google Classroom, so I will need a lot of handholding as this transition to Canvas takes place.
Based on your initial question, I hesitated to give you too much information...so I thought that providing you with the link to the video tutorials would be a good start. However, yes, there are written Guides here in the Community site that provide way more information than what is included within the videos. As I sometimes like to say, if you want to take a deeper dive after watching the video tutorials, you can then go to the written Guides. To access these resources, you can again click on the Canvas menu at the top of any screen here in the Community, and then select Canvas Guides. Then, scroll down a bit and click on the INSTRUCTOR icon/button. On the next screen, click on the INSTRUCTOR GUIDE icon/button. Alternatively, you can use this link: Instructor Guide - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com). On this screen, everything is organized by the particular feature of Canvas...so you will find a wealth of information about most Canvas tools.
You asked specifically about Canvas Commons. That information has its own space in the Community. Again, if you click on the Canvas menu at the top of any screen, this time select Canvas Commons. Then, click on the COMMONS GUIDE icon/button. Here's a video tutorial about it, too. Commons Overview - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
2. My idea is to learn more about Canvas in the summer, so are there any community colleges which offer canvas training?
I'm sure there are, but I don't have access to that information. I would recommend looking into some of the resources that I gave you above...especially the videos from Ashlee and the "Growing with Canvas" course. This video from Ashlee would be a great way to start: (1) Canvas Course Setup (FULL TUTORIAL) - YouTube
Hope these other things will help a bit!
