[ARCHIVED] Unable to upload an 80 MB file to Canvas

Hi all,

I have been trying to upload a PPT (with a video embedded) to my course website.  The file has been compressed to 78.8 MB, which is well within the limits of file size, however I keep getting the error message "Failed to Create new item".  Any suggestions?

Hi  @corpush  Welcome to the Canvas Community!

This question may sound silly, but where are you trying to upload the file to? Into the files area or directly into a module?

Also, is the file still open by any other program?

Check the files area and see if it's already uploaded and just not showing up in Modules view. And if it's still not there, upload to the files area and then add to Modules rather than uploading in the Modules dialog box.

Hi Sharmaine,

   I have tried to upload the file to the FILES area and I have tried to upload to the Module directly.  Both say that the FILE SIZE EXCEEDS QUOTA.  Strangely enough, there are other files uploaded to the files area that are much larger.  This file is not even 80 MB.  I just don't get it.
