The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
I entered a suggestion for a new feature to Allow Admins to set custom default course settings for course shells they are creating and assigning to users in their districts. It opened for voting today, Mar. 2, 2016 and will be open for three months. Vote it up if this is a feature that you would like to see the Canvas product development team work on for us.
1. Log into the Canvas Community...
2. Click on Canvas Feature Ideas in the middle column.
3. Search for "Allow Admin to Set Default Course Settings."
4. Look for the following feature suggestion...
5. Vote by clicking on the "Up" arrow to the right of the vote tally.
@ebschc , I see that you're posting this content in various groups. Did you know that you can share a post in more than one community space? Rather than having to create two copies with differing comment threads, you can create your post and then use the Share link in the upper right to share it into additional spaces. Because you are a member of the Instructional Designers Group, for example, you should be able to ask questions in the Start a Discussion/Question... area and then share it into the Canvas Admins group.
To avoid duplication of effort, and to keep all Community responses consolidated, I've locked this discussion. Anyone who comes across this post should direct their comments to A New Canvas Admin Feature Suggestion is Open for Voting Today
