[ARCHIVED] What are best practices for using and maintaining a "template" course?

Hello, everyone!

Our institution is still new to Canvas, and to capitalize on the lessons we've learned so far, we've created a course with generic items that can be copied into blank course shells to give faculty and staff a strong starting point when developing their courses.

My questions for the community are:

stencil

  • Do you maintain "template" courses?
  • What format does this take (ordinary course, Blueprint course, or Commons course)?
  • What are some best practices you've formed?
For example: We've already learned that it's possible to overwrite content by importing selected items more than once.

Thanks for any help!
