This appears in options for a multiple choice test. What is this? I've been encouraged to keep the "lock students into the browser" option in Lockdown setting disabled to allow student to close the exam and get back into it if they have issues. What does this mean.? If they come back in do they return to the question they were working on?
Janelle,
Canvas does auto save each question as a student works on a quiz. So if they do leave and come back it should have all prior progress saved and already entered when they start back up.
The reason for the box to lock them in is to prevent a case where a student starts and exam in Lockdown Browser, leaves the exam to go look something up, and then re-enters the exam. Locking them in makes them complete and submit the exam in one sitting without being able to leave the lockdown browser.
I can understand why people might suggest to not have it locked down, because if there is some sort of computer issue during the exam it is easier to just let the student restart the browser or whatever to correct it. And lets face it, if a student wants to look up an answer during an exam they probably have a phone or even a 2nd computer to do that with. I don't think any students are going to need to shut down the lockdown browser for a few minutes to cheat, if they are going to cheat.
