[ARCHIVED] Why can't Canvas come up with the simple re-grade feature we all need?

We have all been there,  in reviewing the exam we see we may have worded a question ambiguously,  and may have mismarked or put in the wrong "correct" answer.   In Blackboard,  5 years ago,  it was a simple as -  make the corrections,  hit the regrade button,  scores for all students were checked,  any corrections needed were made, and students were notified of a grade change.   ONE BUTTON   INSTANTANIOUS!

and here is Canvas,  been working on this issue since at least 2015,  and so far can't seem to figure out how to get it done.  So they have now made it so i can edit the question,  and it apparently regrades each student,  but it does not update their scores in the gradebook,  instead  it reverts to the cute little Rocket Icon.  For that  new score to show up in the gradebook,  I have to go student by student -  in my case 250 individuals,  open each of their exams,  scroll to the bottom of their exams,  and click the update score button -  SUCCESS -  For one student -  now all I have to do is repeat those multiple steps another 249 times.

Seriously ,  are any of the developers at Canvas actually thinking about what is usefull and practical for their consumers?   I don't believe i should  have to spend a couple of hours clicking around and scrolling,  because someone at CANVAS can't figure out how to make  one of the most obvious,  most used Utilities of the whole grading program.  

Carl Johansson -  a very early adopter of Canvas,  now getting very disallusioned after repeated promises go unfullfilled!

I'm not sure if this, but my guess is that they aren't fixing quizzes (as they are right now) because they have completely redone them with https://community.canvaslms.com/community/ideas/quizzesnext?sr=search&searchId=de1fc152-2fef-447c-bb...‌. This new quizzing engine is coming out early 2018 and is a 100% overhaul of quizzes. I'm honestly not sure if a better regrade is part of this or not, but thankfully part of the overhaul is that they have updated the code and underlying structure so that they can add new features and tweak things much quicker and easier.

Thank you for the reply.  But 

first,  there was already a re-do of quizzes that happened last summer (as I recall) .  It obviously did not fix the issue. 

so now they come out with priority quizzes next,  and it does not fix this issue either ( I looked into it hoping for a fix, no such luck) .  so now,  it looks like we have to sit and wait for another year,  and hope this time they actually address the issue,  and make re-grading a simple process,  as users have been asking for for over 3 years.

 @birdbrain13 , I'm not sure what re-do of quizzes you're talking about that came out last summer. I know they've been talking about the new quizzing engine for 2-3 years, but it hasn't been in production and no one (other than specific pilot testers) are currently able to access and/or use it. I've been using Canvas for five years and I haven't seen any change to the functionality of quizzes in a LONG time (as in years), but attributed it to the complete overhaul that they've been working on.

I just checked list of related ideas for Quizzes.Next and found a number of regrade feature ideas on the list - Canvas Studio. These are ideas that that will help inform the product managers and engineers as to what features Canvas Users want/need the most. If you haven't already, I'd comment and vote on these ideas so that way you can get your use case of why this is so important out there. In addition, if you haven't already I'd definitely talk to the Canvas admin at your school about the issue and ask for them to advocate on behalf of it to their Canvas CSM.
