[ARCHIVED] Will removing a student from a group affect the group's submitted assignment?

A group assignment is due today, and many groups have submitted already. A student asked to complete it independently and late. If I remove the student from their group, will it affect their group's submission?

Students are reaching out to me and asking to complete it independently due to some factors. I want to let them. 

I know that if a person submits the assignment late, it will affect their group's submission (override + late deduction). If I remove that person from their group so that their submission is not attached to their group, will the group's submission be affected?

(I'm asking because the warning pop-up that says BOTH the person and the group will have data loss.)
