how do I add a teacher/ counselor as an observer to my courses?

Hi Bill -

If your institution has Canvas, likely you'll need to contact your Canvas Admin with the request. However, sometimes instructors have the ability to add a user to their course. If you go into People, find the +People button (right under +Group Set). You can add their information on that screen.
