I'm wondering if your instructor set the course files to be hidden. They can do that through Settings. If this is the case then they will make the appropriate files available throughout the course in key areas. If you are unsure of their location perhaps reach out to your instructor or peers.
Using the Inbox built into canvas could help with this. Here's a guide for that.

Hello @sakeasee_1132 and welcome to the Community! When you say that you cannot see the files in your course, are you referring to the tab called "Files"? If so, this tab is one that may be hidden by an instructor. It may be present in one class but not another. Often, instructors place files in other places, such as in the Modules tab or on a page as a link within Modules. I know some faculty who link to these from assignments as well. Can you find files in any of these locations? If you cannot, I would suggest reaching out to your instructor and asking for guidance on how they would like you to access the files or if they believe the Files tab should be visible to students.
