[ARCHIVED] base64 Images Not Displaying in Course Pages

Hi:

I am wondering if it is possible to use base64 encoding for images when creating course pages.

I am producing standalone HTML files + base64 encoded images that I would like to post as a course page after using the HTML Editor option in the RTE. 

These HTML files appear fine when being posted as a file in the Files area of Canvas but I am not able to publish them after pasting the code in the HTML editor.

The only workaround we've found it uploading the html as a file in the course, not a page. Then, you can add it to a module and you'll see a preview (with the base 64).

It's ugly as all the content is in a preview box, not a page, but it works. This deficiency has completely nullified our workflow, sadly.

My experience is consistent with this post. It simply deletes the base64 content.

Using Markdown to write, Pandoc to convert, and API to upload works great, except embedded images are stripped out!  This seriously impacts my workflow.  Is there any prospect of a fix?  Is it a deliberate design choice or a technical limitation?

I'm also getting this, and when the base64 strings are too long, i get a "too long" error.

is there seriously no better way than to manually add all the images in the editor? that's ridiculous.
