how do i upload a picture to the disscussions board
Solved! Go to Solution.
If you are a student wanting to embed an image into a discussion reply it's a two step process. First, upload the image to your personal Files area in Canvas.
Now that the image is on Canvas in your account you can embed it in the discussion.
I hope that helps,
Rick

where is the "canvas tab" I click the embed button and the directions no longer match up with what I see
Hi @JamesThomasDel ...
You'll want to take a look at the instructions in this Guide:
How do I embed an image in a discussion reply as a... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
You could also attach an image using this Guide, but the above link is probably the one you'll want to use.

Hope this helps a bit!
I have another question- After trying to embed an image in the discussion post, what does it mean when it says the File storage quota is exceeded?
@MichelleAngeli ...
It could be that you have exceeded your personal file storage. Try this... In Canvas, click on the "Account" button on the far left-hand side global navigation menu. Then, when the slide-out menu appears, click on "Files". This is your personal "Files" area where you can store files. Look at the bottom left of your "Files" screen. You should see a percentage bar. What does this percentage show? If it's at or near 100%, and you are trying to upload a large image (in file size), you may not be able to upload the file. You'd have to delete some other files first in order to upload that file to your discussion post.
Please let us know if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
Thanks, I had a large file that I removed, and I think it will work. I did not know I had a large file uploaded. so, thanks for the directions on how to locate it.
