Welcome to the Canvas Community! It's difficult to answer your question, because that's not quite how one accesses Canvas. Perhaps your instructor has created a conference or has enabled Chat in their course, and that's what you're trying to find.
Are you logged into your Canvas account (use your school credentials to log in here: Log In to Canvas ) Once you are logged in, you should see a dashboard displaying the courses in which you are enrolled, as described in How do I use the Dashboard as a student? Click on the card for the course you want to access, and look through the instructor's announcements for guidance on how to participate.
If you still aren't able to find your way to the right location, you can send the instructor a message through the Canvas Inbox ( How do I send a message to a user in a course in the Inbox as a student?)
