Hello, @thyden1 Welcome to the Canvas Community! The most likely reason for this is that the browser you're using to access Canvas is out of date and not supported. Since you're using a Macbook, you might well be using Safari; on a Macbook, updating the OS also updates Safari.
Check the version of the browser you're using (preferably Chrome or Firefox) with those listed in Which browsers does Canvas support? and if yours is older, update as needed.
