[ARCHIVED] "Hide from students" does not hide from students

Why does "Hide from students" NOT hide the assignment/file from students even if the red eye icon is there? I spent 3 hrs creating a Lab Practical, hid it from students, and then received an email from a student this morning the the test is visible to all of my students. I went into Student View and sure enough, "Hide from students" has no effect on the assignment/file.

Is your assignment published? If so, students will see that. You can keep it unpublished until you are ready to use it. You can set a time and date that students can get to the assignments or even set up an access code so that students can tell the published quiz is there, but not get to it without the access code.
