I am trying to import course content from free teacher account to purchased district account. When I import an issue appears:
I need to remove McGraw Hill Campus from my free account as it has not yet been integrated by our school district. I admit I added the app to see if it would work before being told that it would not. I can disable app in free account but I do not know how to remove it permanently. I think if I could then I would not get the issue notice. Any advice?
If I can't remove it, which is preferable, then how do I set security parameters if I have to?
A little bit about the error.
This message happens when you import content through an IMSCC thin cartridge that has external tools in it. I ran into the issue recently when trying to import an Edfinity course. I had created the edfinity app at the account level as instructed, but when when I imported the content, it didn't match the account level app and created a new app. It didn't work, though.
When I got looking into the issue, there was a recent post from a user who had the similar problems. How do I tell Canvas not to create an external tool during a cartridge import? That led to a GitHub issue that had lots of interesting information about the problem.
About that time, Edfinity came back with "we're stumped" because we work with hundreds of institutions without any problems. They recommended that I manually create the 40 or so assignments inside Canvas. Since they were no help, I went through and created all of my assignments by extracting the information from Edfinity (I couldn't find a published API for them) and then using the REST API to sync it up with Canvas.
How to fix it.
Go into your course and choose Settings. Then go to the Apps page and find the McGraw Hill Campus entry. Click the options and delete it. This is also where you could edit it and put in the secret and key if you had them. I would include a screenshot, but the new Community software limits the number of images you can upload to 1000 and I guess I've hit that mark already from the old Community. I can give you a link to the Canvas Instructor Guide where this lesson explains the process: How do I configure a manual entry external app for a course?
