How do you set up automatic zero for late assignments in CANVAS gradebook?
Also, once that is turned on, will students still be able to submit late assignment and get credit for it?
Solved! Go to Solution.
The ability to turn in late is controlled by your "available until" date. If you don't want people to turn things in late, then make your "due at" and "available until" date and times the same.
There is a related feature that will soon be available, if your local Canvas admin has not already turned it on, that allows you to limit the number of submissions. This can keep someone from turning it in on time and then turning it in again late after you've already graded it.
There are two policies that you can set in the gradebook for setting the grade to 0. One is for missing assignments that were never turned in and one is for late assignments.
Here are the lessons from the Canvas Instructor Guide.

Hi,
This solution tells you how to automatically enter a zero for missing assignments, but how do you automatically set a zero for late assignments?
I still want them to be able to turn in an assignment late, in case, for example, we end up granting an extension, but I want zeros to be entered for all late and missing assignments, i.e. the blue and the pink cells should have default zeroes in them.
