Is there an add-on that will allow you to add automatic comments to quiz questions to let students know why they got a question wrong? Right now it seems that the only way to do this is to manually add the comment each time after the quiz is completed.

Greetings! I'm not sure if you are using legacy quizzes or new quizzes, but in both cases, yes, you can add this information to the quiz questions themselves. This can be correct answer feedback, incorrect answer feedback, and general feedback.
I'm not sure what type of questions you are using, but you can get the general idea from this guide for Legacy Quizzes --How do I create a Multiple Choice quiz question? (Under edit multiple choice question details, #3) or this guide for New Quizzes -- How do I create a Multiple Choice question in New Quizzes? ("Add Answer Feedback").
