Building a bank before creating the quiz itself

Somehow, I created a question bank in new quizzes and was able to add questions directly to the bank without having to create the question in the body of the quiz first and click "add to bank."

Now I cannot figure out how I did it. It was so much faster than creating a question and adding it to an existing bank each time. I just did all the creating within the question bank pop up window.

Does anyone know how I did this so I can do it again?

There was a blue plus sign in this window right above the gray "filter" plus sign.
