Creating a second assignment attempt; can I see the first one?

If you have an individual assignment with a rubric attached - the student submits the assignment, it is graded with the rubric.  Then we allow the student to have a second submission before the due date.  I know I can regrade this second attempt and use the rubric.  However, is there a record of the first attempt, the original comments, and the original rubrics anywhere for comparisons to the improved second attempt?
