Do you delete Senior accounts upon graduation?

Do you delete the Canvas accounts of Seniors once they have graduated? I know some of the colleges that our students will attend use Canvas and I don't know if there will be any negative side effects to them having another Canvas account which they no longer use/need.

Except in some strange circumstances, this should not be an issue. Most likely, the two institutions will enroll them via CSV using school generated email addresses thus creating two different Canvas accounts in two separate instances. The strange circumstances would include 1) the student used the same email address for both K-12 and HE and/or 2) the student is manually added at the Higher Ed level and choses to merge the two accounts together (for this one, the probability of occurrence is low).

I do have quite a few schools who delete seniors after all the grades have been reported and any discrepancies settled so they don't have access to the courses for a variety of reasons. I'd be interested to hear what folks in this group do.

Deactivated user​, JGarton​ Re: strange circumstance #1: that shouldn't be a problem (you can have separate accounts with the same email address in multiple Canvas instances -- I have accounts in numerous Canvas instances at the moment). And, re circumstance #2: The only folks I've seen who have an account merged across institutional instances are Canvas folk who are using a super-admin tool. So… should be totally safe to leave them in your instance.

I'll throw out a strange circumstance #3, however, that _could_ impact some people: I know of a few K-12 schools that share IT resources with a nearby university (lab schools most especially) and, in that particular case, if the two schools existed in the same Canvas instance, the student would "already exist" when s/he got to college. But even that shouldn't be a bad thing, since their coursework would exist in separate terms, sub-accounts, etc. It might just be a convenience (with the sole exception of having a Faculty Journal that you just can't shake).
