Enter grades manually

How do I add attendance grades manually?  I have created a an assignment group called Attendance.  I cannot enter grades, however.  Do I need to create an assignment?

Hi,  @mmw25979  .  You will need to make an assignment in order to enter grades for assignments.

I will have to create it and publish it, correct?

But then, won't students see it as an assignment?

Do you have the group set as 0% of the grade? The students will see the assignment unless you mute it.  In your gradebook, hover over the assignment and a drop down menu will appear.  The last option on this menu is to mute the assignment.  This means you can see it, but they can't.
