Has the To-Do list changed?

It seems like the to-do list used to only show upcoming assignments for the next 7 days. Now it seems like any published assignment (even if it is not available) is appearing in the to-do list. Is this a new feature here to stay, or am I imagining this?

I've heard of two instances this term where students don't know to clear the items of old assignments, so they don't see the assignments that come afterward, and therefore they don't see those latter assignments.
