Hidden Eye Still Showing When Grades Posted

I have a faculty who set their whole gradebook to manual posting of grades. The problem is, they posted grades for an assignment and the "hidden" eye is still visible on that gradebook item. Why is that? Shouldn't it go away if grades are posted?

Howdy! As I responded in the other discussion.

A eye with a slash through it means that the column has been set to manual grade posting policy (either it is currently hidden or was hidden). The red eye means grades were entered but not posted yet.

One thing our staff is doing is after releasing the grades to the whole class, is to set the assignment back to automatic posting so the confusing eye is gone.

I did see that posting. A couple of my faculty will be happy with some of those changes, especially the eye going away when they change the gradebook item to automatic!

I'm still confused. I have set the grade posting policy to manually. I understand everything up until this point:

"Once a grade is posted manually, it will automatically send new notifications and be visible to students. Future grade changes for posted grades will not need to be manually posted."

Do I have an option that never lets students see their grades? I have teachers who'd like our SIS to be the official grading vessel at this point. Not Canvas. Thanks.
