How Long Does A Canvas Attempt Last?

I was going to start working incredibly far ahead, but I'm unsure whether or not Canvas will store answers that far ahead of time. There are no time limits to the assignments. I will be submitting them in class ranging from next week to 4 months. Does Canvas have a time limit like that? And can it save it securely, as in spontaneous data loss?
