How do I remove myself as a Teacher or TA from a course? TAs and Teachers do not seem to have the same 3 dot button on the 'People' page as students do.

Hello @ekimble Welcome to the Canvas Community. Thanks for posting your question. If you are unable to remove yourself at a Teacher or TA, you may need to reach out to your school's local Canvas administrator who should be able to do this for you. Often, admins at schools will set permissions on certain roles to allow or not allow them to manually enroll or drop users from courses. I hope this information will be of help to you, Elicia.

Hi there,
I am a Canvas Admin in my district and I would like teachers (substitutes) to be able to unenroll from courses themself. There is not an option for this in our permissions tab. The Remove Teacher option allows them to remove other users listed as Teachers but never themself. Ideas?
Thank you
Nicholas
Running into the same issue here at my institution. We created and admin role for our Instructional Designers to add/remove themselves (as Designer or TA roles) to courses. They are able to add/remove others fine. They can add themselves, but can't remove themselves. They don't see the 3 dot hamburger button. Any ideas??
I'm wondering about the same question... It seems that Designers cannot remove themselves. This is problematic because IDs frequently add themselves to a course on a temporary basis to help with something...but since they can't remove themselves, their list of courses gets very long very quickly.
having the same problem, but trying to remove a TA
Hello @ElizabethMcGraw ...
The solution I provided above back in 2019 still stands today. If you are having difficulties removing folks with the "TA" role from your course on your own, you will need to reach out to your school's Online Learning or Distance Learning department. I found this page on the Johns Hopkins University website that might provide some contact information for you: Canvas at JHU. I hope this helps!
