Next button and requirements

I have set some requirements for a module in Canvas.

Despite the requirements students can continue to the module by using the next button on the last page of the previous module.

So basically there is a module 1 and 2, Handing in assignments in module 1 is a requirement for module 2. From last assignment in module 1 the student can continue to the next module, Despite not having handed in the assignment, the student can move on to the next module by using the next button.

In the list of modules it isn't possible to open module 2 without finishing the assignments in module 1, so that part works, it is just the next button, that circumnavigates the requirements set on the module.

Hope this makes some sort of sense?

@lic One thought comes to mind, if I am reading your question correctly -- you don't mention setting prereq for module 2. Check out https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-add-prerequisites-to-a-module/ta-p/1123 Not only in Module 1 would you require students to submit the assignment, but you would set a prereq in Module 2 stating the conditions that must be met before a student can access the module. It seems like you're missing that step.

I am perfectly capable of setting up requirements.

I am trying to tell you, that the next page button ignores them.

@lic I can tell this is a frustrating situation for you. I hope that your technology support, Instructure support, or the community is able to help you determine what the glitch is. I've tested this with student view and I'm getting the same behavior.  It isn't working.

According to the Canvas guide, we can use the Help button on our instance of Canvas: https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/MasteryConnect-Getting-Started/Create-a-Support-Ticket/ta-p/38673...

I think schools have different ways of implementing this. Our institution routes through our support team who then resolves it if possible or escalates to Instructure.
