Not graded icon in gradebook

Why do only a few students have the "not graded" icon in the gradebook and not other students?  None of them is graded yet--the grading deadline is days away.

The not graded icon means that a submission has been received but not graded.  Have the other students that do not have the not graded icon have a submission?

Many students have submitted to the assignment.  They post and reply throughout a week-long class session; grading is each Tuesday at noon.  But of all the students in the gradebook, only a couple have the icon.  Could they be somehow submitting differently?  I just don't see the difference.

Would you be able to provide a screen shot that doesn't show student data?  They could be submitting differently, but without seeing the column I can't be sure.

 @drs02040 , greetings! I wanted to let you know for the sake of privacy, I edited your image to remove the names of your students - this is an open Community and anyone can view things posted here.

In regards to your question, the icons showing up for the Week 1 discussion are not graded icons, they are icons to let you know that students have submitted to the discussion and need to (at some point) be graded.

Thanks, I thought of that privacy issue almost immediately but too slow.  But anyway, the issue is that others, too, have submitted materials to be eventually graded, yet they have no icon.

Now that is strange! Have you tried going to speedgrader to see what it shows? To get to speedgrader you can click on the Discussion and then the three vertical dots and select "Speedgrader." What you're looking for is to see if the other students are showing submissions to the discussion in Speedgrader. If not, then are you possibly using groups in your course and for this discussion?

Only one of the two that show the icon are listed in Speedgrader.  There are no groups.

Okay, the plot thickens! I've been using Canvas for almost 8 years and I've never seen this happen. My recommendation at this point is to contact Canvas Support (Help link in Canvas --> "Report a Problem") and see if they can help. Along with this, please let us know what you find out from support! I'm super curious as to what's going on!
