REST endpoint support fetching data based on the last updated date/time or timestamp

Hello All, 

I'm trying to find out if this REST endpoint will support fetching data based on the last updated date/time or timestamp?

https://insertschoolname.instructure.com/api/v1/courses/:courseId/enrollments?state=active&type=Stud...

Does anyone know if this is possible or not?

Spoke with Canvas support and received a strange answer.  "This isn't recommended, but it may work... and if it does, be careful because it isn't recommended." Then followed with with Admin support and was told that these time stamps are not updated in a manner that would support the type of API script filtering that I was hoping to do. 

Haven't gotten a solid response on what causes the timestamp for these endpoints to change, nor have I gotten any response regarding filtering based on them via the API script. 

Guess this will get put on the shelf for now, don't have time to do all the testing to figure out what I expected Canvas to be able to tell me. 😞
