One of our courses uses Moderated Grading for assignments and each submission needs to be reviewed by three people.
The issue we are running into is that the course runs for a full year and is self-paced. So some students complete the assignment within a week. Others take six months. Is there a way to select a final grade for just some of the students? From what I see you release them all at once and then the moderation feature is over.
Solved! Go to Solution.
That is correct: moderating grades is designed for situations where students are all proceeding at the same pace.
Wild idea that may not work: create a second course that is just for submitting the assignment. Students request to be enrolled in that course one at a time when they're ready to submit. You give them a custom due date from the assignment settings page and do the moderated grading upon submission. Then, finish and release the moderated grade. Can you then add another student to the course, assign them a custom due date, and then re-moderate the assignment? You'd have to test that out.

Thanks @gpillsbury - I don't know if my teachers would go for that as a solution, but it's good to confirm that their dreams for moderated grading aren't coming true unless they provide some due dates. 🙂
