Make videos online with photos, clips, music - Stupeflix
Stupeflix is a free, online tool for creating videos. You can incorporate still images, videos, add audio, use "text 2 speech" for slide narration, add soundtrack audio/narration. *Double-click on a slide to modify the slide duration. You can create & download a low or hi-res version of your mp4 video, or snag the embed code and easily add to a Canvas or WordPress page. Limit to total presentation time & storage size. **No downloading or installing of app. Certain times of the day take longer to render (probably high access times) your video.
This is a tool that both faculty & students could use in creating videos.
I was able to create a Stupeflix presentation using my Chromebook.
What about captioning? I could not find anything on their site. I would like to recommend it but without that option it might be a problem for higher ed institutions.
Ooooh, good point! I would imagine that Screencast-O-Matic, Snagit and other screen capture apps would have a similar problem.
Since each Stupeflix slide has an option for "Add Audio Overlay" or "Add Text to Speech" you would need to record an "Slide Description" and then a "Slide Content" section for each slide. I'm not familiar with how JAWS works, but I've heard it or another screen reader's output as one of our faculty was viewing a web page. For an image on a page, you've added extra content to the HTML so that JAWS reads out a description of that image, and then the text on the page. With Stupeflix, you would plan ahead the same way, adding to the audio or text2speech the extra descriptive text... "Slide 1 Description: The image shows four young college aged students, 2 girls and two boys, all holding colored notebooks and all looking towards you smiling. [ding] Slide Content: Welcome to College 1 O 1."
