I am using the free account, but my district is in the process of purchasing/setting up Canvas for everyone.  Will I be able to transfer my data from my free account to the paid version?

Yup...you can certainly do this!  You'll want to export your course from Free for Teachers and then import it to your new school's Canvas environment in your course.  Here are a couple Guides for you to look through:
