Where do Exported canvas IMSCC files go? I can not find them.

When I export the course content to import into another shell, I cannot find the IMSCC file. Is it on my computer or in the cloud? Thank you.

Make sure that you click on "New Export" at the top after the content has been generated. This will download it to your computer and hopefully ask you where to save it. Some browsers automatically save files without asking where, so I would start by checking your downloads folder.

I regret to say that this response does not constitute a reply. 

1. What is the format of the "export" content? pdf? rtf? rrd?

2. If the browser does not ask where to store it, is it stored in Canvas?

3. Why does exported material not appear in the Downloads file of a browser?

@PatriciaSeed Once you click the export button, Canvas creates the IMSCC file on the Canvas server.  You then need to click the "New Export" link/button that @James indicated in his post.  Otherwise, it has gone nowhere, Canvas has just created a file for the ability to be downloaded.  (I do think this is weird but that is how it works).  Once you click the "New Export" link, you should get the same options as any other internet download would give you.  In answer to the file type, it is an IMSCC file.  That is a filetype for any IMS system (this is a common file type for Learning Management Systems and is a standard that Canvas follows.  The "CC" stands for Common Cartridge).  So, it is not a PDF or any type of file that a computer will open.  You need another system that reads IMSCC files to open it, such as another institution's Canvas, the Free-for-Teacher's Canvas, or Moodle, etc..  I have seen some tricks on switching the extension to ".zip" which then you can see all the files inside and browse them.
