Hi,  @rh979  Welcome to the Canvas Community! To send a message to your instructor (or to any other user in your course, if your school has allowed that ability), follow the instructions in https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-10574-4212710325  Note that if your course hasn't yet been published, you won't be able to message your instructor from the Canvas Inbox; if that's the case, use an external email application to send an email to the instructor.

Hello!

I went through the steps that were requested and was able to do it, however, I found that when selecting the course, the drop-down list of courses is truncated and there's no way to know for sure which course I'm selecting.

Also -- why can't there be a direct link from the course itself to the messaging module? Why are there so many additional steps here? I would definitely not have figured out how to do this if it hadn't been for the KB article.

Hello there, @armahillo ...

Do you know if you can give your course a "nickname"?  You can do this on the Canvas Dashboard, and when you give your course a "nickname", that nickname should appear when you are selecting the course to compose a message through the Canvas Inbox...so that you can determine which course it is in your list.  I'm not sure if you are an instructor or a student, but the instructions to give your course a nickname are pretty much the same for each role.  Here are the Guides for you:

Look at the section in each Guide called "Create Nickname".
