Credential recipient identifier URL

In the instructions for awarding a badge, you must enter an identifier, usually an email address.  However, there is an option to add a URL.  Would this be the recipient's own website address, for example,  Linkedin URL?  How would the recipient know they have received a badge?

Thanks,

Hey @akhuebel !

While I have used Badgr for several years and Credentials for about 2 years now, I normally award badges using the Canvas integration.  When I saw your question, I started to research, but did not find much. So I entered the following prompt into ChatGPT: How do you create a recipient identifier URL when awarding an open badge?

Partial response by ChatGPT:

If you're using a platform that supports the Open Badges standard (such as Badgr, Credly, or Open Badge Factory), these systems will typically generate a Recipient Identifier URL for you when you issue a badge. This URL will lead to a page containing the recipient's badge and the associated metadata.

This helped me make sense of the Recipient Identifier URL.  However, since this response was created by AI, I would double check before putting 100% faith into it.  For example, the part that states, "If you're using a platform that supports the Open Badges standard (such as Badgr, Credly, or Open Badge Factory), these systems will typically generate a Recipient Identifier URL for you when you issue a badge." When I tried to use the recipient identifier URL option to award a badge, the system did not create the URL for me.  I am wondering if this is an option that the Credentials admin can turn on or off.  I will have to do some more research on this.

You can also email Credentials Support at support@badgr.com to see if they can help you.

Good luck!
