  New Features

As an admin, you can create categories for your catalogs. Categories are created from tags added to course or program listings, as well as subcatalog names. Categories will be used as part of additional search functionality available in a future release.

Parent Catalog

To create categories for your account, open the parent catalog and select the Categories tab. To create categories using subcatalog names, use the drop-down menu to show subcatalogs. The list of all subcatalogs appear in the page; to select a sub-catalog as a category, select the checkbox next to the sub-catalog.

Any subcatalogs added as categories appear under the Categories heading; categories can be removed by clicking the remove icon next to the subcatalog category, or by deselecting the corresponding subcatalog checkbox.

When viewing a subcatalog, you can choose to inherit categories from the catalog ancestry. For instance, if your subcatalog is one level lower than the parent catalog, your subcatalog will inherit categories from the parent catalog.

When enabled, all inherited categories display in the page and are filtered to only show subcatalogs that descend directly from the sub-catalog you are viewing.

If you want to create separate categories for the sub-catalog, disable the inherit option, and use the drop-down menu to show subcatalogs or tags. The sub-catalog list only displays descendant subcatalogs to the sub-catalog you are viewing, but the tags list still shows tags from all subcatalogs across the entire account.
