Our Canvas is managed by a nightly SIS import that follows the Florida Department of Education's WIDAS periods.
Period 1 = 8/1 - 12/31
Period 2 = 1/1 - 6/30
Period 3 = 7/1 - 7/31
Issue 1:
We have classes overlap into multiple WIDAS periods, they are assigned a new sequence number in our Mainframe which essentially views it as a new course. This means Canvas views it as a new course too.
Is there anything that can be done to prevent this, or automatically cross-list the courses prior to them hitting the instructor's dashboard?
Best example is the class I teach. It will start on 6/10 and end on 9/30 (due to vacation and staff training). This means that class will be assigned 3 different sequence numbers that Canvas will view as 3 different classes.
Issue 2:
Since we use a nightly SIS Import, courses auto-populate in Canvas. How can I tell Canvas to create a course -7 days prior to the start, end it for STUDENTS only on the last day of the class, but +7 days AFTER the class for instructors (to allow time for grades to be pulled in inputted). Courses default to Participation: Term. Can they default to Participation: Course based on the dates in the Mainframe?
