Understanding Content Migration

I am trying to get me head around the Content Exports and Content Migration APIs.  If I want to import the content from one course to another (all content), do I first need to run the Content Exports before I can run the Content Migration?  Or can I just run the Content Migration and import the material from one course to another?

In my experience, you only need Content Migration, with the 'migration_type' parameter set to 'course_copy_importer' and the 'settings[source_course_id]' parameter set to the Canvas ID of the course you're copying from.
