using python to create pages into a module

I am wanting to automate the process from content in a word doc and using an API to create the modules and then the pages within the modules based a standardised theme. I can get it to create the content and the pages fine, It labels them correctly and then applies the theme as I want it to. But then makes the pages BUT not in the modules.??? any help would be great

There's 2 ways you can go about it. Either way, a new module item must be created. You can have a thousand pages, quizzes and assignments in a course but if they haven't been added to or created within a specific module, they won't appear in the module and thereby the Modules list. This is intentional behavior.

I'm assuming the modules you want to add the content pages to exist already. If not, use the API to create them or go into the specific course you're working and add a new module. Then, check here - under "create module item": https://canvas.instructure.com/doc/api/modules.html

• The first solution is to add a new module item to a given module and then linking it to the content that you've already created and pushed to the course (as pages - find their content id and hook them up). I haven't worked with this myself but just from reading the API, I'm assuming this is how it works.
• The second solution is to add a new module item, give it a type and then use your content-pusher to push content into this new element (which is then already present in the module and will simply update and remain in the module once you've pushed content to it).

As @michael5 has stated, you can use the API to create modules, see for example, the code in create_module.py

The program Zoom-chat-to-canvas-page-py shows both creating modules and pages and putting the page into a module. When you put pages into a module, you can say what order to put them in.
