Panopto 4-9 update might be good for Canvas users

This might be of interest to those using Panopto in their Canvas courses.

With this release there will be a new Groups page for Admins in Panopto, this may be significant to us Canvas users as the Canvas /Panopto integration we use here at Birmingham makes use of Panopto groups for access.

Each course in Canvas has 2 groups in Panopto associated with it

1 Creator groups that has all the Teachers

1 Viewer groups for all other roles

Presently both of these groups are locked and we can’t see who is in them. Meaning it can be quite difficult to answer support calls from users.

This new Panopto upgrade might give us this ability

I am an Instructional Design Consultant, working at the University of Birmingham's. I have specific responsibility for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences (LES) which comprises of 4 schools Biosciences, Geography, Earth & Environmental Sciences, Psychology and Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences. Other areas of interest include feedback issues, use of Turnitin, online / offline marking and how technology can support this, along with the general use of different technology for learning.
