I've been a Canvas-using educator for the better part of the last ten years. I have sung its praises and made disciples of other educators...
However, in the recent past, the Canvas Mobile App's Speed Grader has stopped allowing users to filter student results by section. I don't know who made that decision, but I promise it was not workshopped with any practicing educators using the system. That single change has made using CANVAS, not just the mobile app itself but the entire platform, almost not worth the while for me, which is tragic considering how much I've poured into preparing content here.
I've tried to work with it since the beginning of this school year but entering grades is taking literally three times longer to the point where it takes as much if not a little less time to just put everything on paper and go back to doing class manually. I am not just being hyperbolic (well maybe a little) - this change has decreased in-app quality of life for Canvas users SIGNIFICANTLY.
Does anyone know when/if this is going to be fixed? I suppose I can create a separate course for each individual section but how utterly ridiculous is that when we know the functionality already exists to simply enable sort by section?
A cynical person might suggest that this is strategic targeting of quality-of-life features to motivate purchased upgrades - but I'm not cynical. I also have no control over purchasing decisions in my district - only over the manner of content delivery to my students...

Some progress here - once my admin allowed the update to push through, I see that I can now filter by section, although what was once a simple one click/tap is now three, it's still better than not having the feature at all. Thanks to whoever pushed through that adjustment!
