Evaluation portfolio:
- In the "Add Assignment From Course" area, use a plain list with checkboxes rather than 4 x 5 boxes. It takes too long to go through all the pagination to get to the summative assessments. When presented as a list as described, move the ADD button to the upper left above the column of checkboxes. ReadyGo uses this design model and it is easy to use:
- In the Skills area, it is not immediately evident to the user that Skills cannot be added in the same way that Achievements are added. There is no Add Skill button, yet the visual design suggests that Achievements and Skills are similar in their applicability to the portfolio. It is only AFTER an Achievement is added that a Skill populates, and it does not appear to be user-defined - you get what you get from adding the Achievement. Rethink this design logic - it fakes out the user into assuming that they are functionally similar.
- There are numerous tags used in the portfolio: Draft, Saved, Verified, Skills, Optional, etc. These all look like buttons but they are not. Below is a screenshot from an article in the Nieman Norman Group UX website that explains button states. Note that all of the buttons on this page look like the tags in Portfolio. Use a different design approach to indicating tags so they do not look like buttons.
- In the Showcase portfolio, there is no Save button related to the Description. After typing in the Description content, I am not sure what to do. Do I save it as a Draft or does it auto-save?
- In the Cover image interface, recommend including specifications for the optimal image dimensions. There is no way to edit the image to optimize it for the allocated space. I am sure there are libraries available to edit an image that can be used here.
- Once a new Section has been added, there appears to be nothing else you can do. The box states "No Evidence Requirement added to this section." I cannot move any of my Evidence into a Section. UPDATE: I figured it out by accident - you have to go to Manage Sections and then drag/drop the Evidence into the desired section. This is unintuitive (otherwise it would be labeled Manage Evidence). Instead, make the Evidence objects draggable on the front-end. There does not appear to be a way to edit the section titles after they are created. The "Evidence without a Section" section cannot be edited or deleted.
