After an outage on September 1, the Instructure Community is now fully available, including guides, release notes, forums, and groups. If some styling still looks unusual, clear your cache and cookies.
The enhanced Portfolio supports two core use cases. You can start exploring and using both today:
This use case supports structured portfolio assignments tied to single or multiple courses. It helps educators assess learner progress over time, while guiding students toward clear goals.
With Evaluation Portfolios, you can:
Define portfolio requirements for single or multi-course evaluations
Assign portfolios to students to help guide competency development
Track what students have submitted and where evidence is still missing
Give feedback directly on learner submissions throughout the process
Enable students to submit diverse evidence types — text, file uploads, links, and collaborative work
Showcase Portfolios give students the freedom to create and personalize portfolios that reflect their learning journey - academic or professional.
With Showcase Portfolios, students can:
Build their own portfolios from scratch
Add evidence from coursework or upload their own content
Use rich text, files, links, and media to tell their story
Customize each portfolio with a title, description, and cover image
Note: You can only embed guides in Canvas courses. Embedding on other sites is not supported.
