Adding a List of Links Via LTI Tool

Jump to solution

Our LTI tool currently supports the Link Selection placement. Faculty can add links to our content within a module using our External Tool. Our API supports both the ability to add a list of links and add comments.

Two questions:

  1. With the Link Selection placement, is there a way to add multiple links at once to a module?
  2. Is there a way to add comments so they appear with the link in the module?

My gut is using the Link Selection placement, neither of the above can be supported, but wanted to make sure. My guess is that we'll have to add the Editor Button placement so support both of the above?

Thanks for the assist!

@dshaw5  I would have thought so but the documentation does not describe that as a limitation like it does for module linking.

@dshaw5 I agree with your gut, I am not aware of anyway to accomplish adding multiple links at once (I know none of our current LTI's allow this and I would love for some of them to allow it as it would save a ton of time). Also there is not a "comment" or description area for links.

Here is Canvas's documentation which does say only one link at a time:

Hope this helps!

Thanks @nwilson7! Safe to assume that the Editor Button placement does support adding multiple links and comments?
