Hi, the recommended article for delete a course does not work; there is no "delete" option under Settings.

Hello,

If you do not see the "delete course" button under course settings, most likely it is because your institution has removed that permission based on your role. I suggest contacting your Canvas administrator and ask for the course to be deleted if you no longer need it.

What do you do if using a Free Teacher account which does not fall under an "institution" account?

I have the same question, and I am the administrator. I don't see an option to delete a course, and I don't see an option under admin settings to turn on the ability to delete a course. What am I doing wrong?

If you are a Canvas administrator, have you checked your global JavaScript file to see if there are any lines of code in there that might be hiding the "Delete this Course" button?  Check out this thread that I found:

If you are not a Canvas admin, you might want to have a conversation with the person who has that role at your school.  Often, this person is in an Online Learning / eLearning / Distance Education department of some kind.

I am a new user. Still learning but I have come to know how one can delete a course whether published or unpublished. Simply follow the steps below:

1. open the course you want to delete from the dashboard;

2. click on the setting;

3. search on the items listed on the righthand side of the page;

4. click on "delete this course";

5. That's it, the course deleted, and not found on the dashboard anymore.

Not necessarily true. The information that @chadscott had provided earlier in this thread is correct. Further, if you take a look at the information provided in this Guide:

How do I delete a course as an instructor?

...you'll see that similar information is given in the second bulleted item under Notes within the light-blue box at the top of the document.
