Display name change

Canvas won’t let me change my display name, I do not go by my dead name and it makes me uncomfortable to see my dead name. It won’t let me click to change the name at all.

I'm so sorry for the inconvenience!

Having the ability to change your name in Canvas is a permission that is controlled by the school's local administration. If you are not seeing the option to update within Canvas, they likely disabled this ability for users. 

You will want to contact your school directly. In most cases, Canvas Support is unauthorized to update names for users. I'd see about asking your school Registrar or Admissions Office for help with this.
