Hi, Victoria,
I'm not familiar with a shopping cart in Canvas Catalog, but I would imagine that enrolling is adding yourself to a course immediately, while a shopping cart collects the courses where you intend to enroll? You may want to ready out to your institution for clarification.
Good luck!

I think enrolling means you're interested in taking the class but don't want to pay yet. Adding it to your cart means you're interested in taking the class AND you want to pay for it. So, you can enroll in classes you want to take later in the semester but not pay for it just yet, but you want to make sure you have a spot. That's my guess!

The frustrating part is once you enroll in the class it cannot be added to shopping cart. I am confused.
