When I check my lessons in Student View, I get a message that says blank blank blank hasn't been unlocked yet.

It sounds like you have an assignment locked that you're trying to test in Student View? Is that correct?
If so, that could be giving you the funny results.
It may help if you can define what it is you're trying to test or accomplish.
